There have been many times that I have read peels are the most nutritious part of the food.  If you can get your kids to eat the peels that is great!  Sometimes I cannot, and it is not a battle I want to have.  Usually I am happy enough if they are eating fruits or vegetables.  As well, you may be removing peels if you are making your own baby food.

What I do

I eat the peels as a snack for me.  No banana peels for me though.  I am not that brave.  Eating the peels is a great way to waste less as well.  As parents, we often go long periods of time without eating.  We get caught up in the craziness of the day.

When I go too long without eating I find that I have less patience, am more tired, and I make poorer food choices.  When you get to the point that you are starving that is when the unhealthy food looks especially appealing.  You are looking for a quick fix to your hunger.  Having healthy snacks help to prevent that from happening. 

If you find yourself with left over peels consider them as a snack for you.  Just think your body is getting the best part, and you are left with less to clean up!
