The snow is falling outside gently covering the ground, fences, and roof tops. Out front a young boy is playing in the snow, out back a couple with their dog. Inside we are enjoying each other’s company with a Christmas Story playing in the background, a classic yearly movie in our house.
I love glancing at the beautiful Christmas tree covered in meaningful ornaments and soft glowing lights, then looking at the fire, and back out the window again at the snow. Through the windows I can see trees lit up in neighbour’s houses, and unique wreaths hanging beautifully on the doors. The gingerbread tea I am sipping adds to the warmth I feel inside.
Displaying a few new Christmas cards from dear family and friends brings a smile to my face. My son is busy putting a special puzzle together that was a gift from his friend. Meanwhile my baby girl is enjoying the puzzle just as much in her own way taking the pieces and throwing them to her brother. His response “thank you for helping me honey” coupled with a kiss. I’m in no rush to get out the door today, and am already thinking about a future encounter with a special holiday eggnog latte.
For me this is the perfect Sunday.
