One thing I love is kitchen tools.  I like to cook, and I especially love baking so after thinking about it for a few months I decided to get the Perfect Brownie Pan.  Plus I didn’t win the giveaway I entered for it J.

When I can, I try to think about items I would like for my home for a while to allow me to better decide if it something think I would use often enough.  Also, when it comes to items for my kitchen am I going to be able to fit it somewhere?  Or is there something I can get rid that I no longer use or need to make room?

Brownies are probably my second favorite dessert, not that I have listed them out or anything.  I totally have J!  We are entertaining for a couple of days and I thought brownies would be a great easy dessert to whip up.

Whenever I make brownies I find they tend to crumble apart when you cut them.  Especially when they are not overcooked.  Part of my favorite part about baking is the presentation, which made the Perfect Brownie Pan appealing to me.

And it is not just for brownies!

If you follow the link the l!vemercial is kind of funny.

Here are all the pieces.

My dilemma when making the brownies was whether to use the brownie recipe recommended for an 8x8 pan or to double it.  In the end I decide to double the recipe because I was making brownies for more than one night of entertaining.

Grease the pan and divider, then pour the batter into the pan and insert the divider.

Doubling the recipe made for a very FULL pan of brownie batter.

Last minute I decided to place the pan on a baking sheet in case any leaked.  I am glad I did because a little bit did leak out the bottom.  You could also choose to line the pan with foil to prevent leakage.

I baked the brownies at 325 degrees F for 1 hour.  Because the pan was so full they puffed up over the divider.

This made the tops stick together, making it more difficult to remove the divider.  In the end the brownies did not have as great of a shape as I had hoped for but I think it is due to too full of a pan.  Next time I will use a single 8x8 recipe.  The brownies were very tall so I am ok with them coming out smaller next time.  Hey and if you don’t like them small, you could always eat 2, right? J

The great thing about this pan is after removing the divider while the brownies are still slightly warm, you place the pan on the rack and the side drops down.  This way you could serve them right on the rack straight out of the oven if you wanted.

Another bonus is the Perfect Brownie Pan comes with stencils that you can use to decorate the brownies with confectioners sugar.

And this one is just perfect for Valentine’s Day

All in all, even though they were a little misshaped because I used too much batter I do think it came out better than cutting them myself.  And they tasted good!

I can’t wait to try the pan for other recipes as well.  The recipe book that came with it has some delicious looking ones.

I have been wondering if these pans actually work well. It's a great idea, but I like to determine the size of my brownie myself. I do love the idea of stencils, though! Maybe I should make my out out of some cardboard? Thanks for the inspiration!
