“Mom you sure do know how to spread peanut butter.”

I love how he appreciates some of the little things I do.

“I can’t talk with food in my mouth, that’s why I yelled it!”

Huh?  It makes me laugh that it makes complete sense to him.

“You can’t pick your nose when your fingers are dirty.  You can only pick it when your fingers are clean.”

I guess I need to re-think my explanation that picking your nose is not a good idea because your fingers are dirty?!

“Mom makeup doesn’t make you beautiful.  You are beautiful just the way you are.”

Did my little boy really just say that?  How did I get so lucky?  Why should I waste my time on makeup when I could be playing with him?

Sometimes my children teach me so much more than any adult could.  I am in awe of how pure their love is.  I am constantly amused how things that make sense in my mind, mean something completely different in theirs.  Maybe I should carry that with me and remember it for conversations with my love?  They inspire me, confuse me, open up my mind, and make me laugh, but my favorite of all; they melt my heart with a simple hug.

Happiness is always there.  Are you seeing it?

You just reminded me why I love children so much. Everything they do is so pure, because they haven't learned ideas such as guilt or embarassment yet. They will ask anything, without fear of feeling stupid. They will start clapping just because they are happy (for no reason) and they don't need to explain themselves! They run around in circles, because they have the energy to.
Being around them makes me remember how free I can feel if I just let go of being an "adult".
You truly are one lucky mom. I love that he said you are beautiful without make up. You have one very sweet boy!

Aww, your little boy is the sweetest! Are you keeping these little adorable statements in a journal? If not, you totally should! Imagine all the fun you'd both have reading these once your son is older. A child's innocence is so precious and serves as a reminder that there is always good in this world. I can't wait until I am a mother! You are truly blessed, Wendy! Thank you for this beautiful post.
