One of my favorite things about being a parent is getting to share some of my favorite activities with my children.  It is such a special thing when you and your child share a love or passion for the same thing.  Sharing your passion with loved ones is such an incredible experience.

Big Brother loves to color.  You may be thinking, what is the big deal many kids love to color?  The thing is he can literally sit down and color something for a very long time, and at the young age of 4 it is not easy to find many activities that occupy a child for very long.

If I sit down next to my son and color a long side him, the activity lasts even longer.  Not to mention I really enjoy coloring myself.  Creating art together is something my son and I love to do, and I couldn’t be happier about it.

My daughter is still too young to tell if she has a passion for art yet, so we will see.  If not, I look forward to sharing other activities with her.  Who knows, maybe she’ll share my passion for baking or for hanging Christmas ornaments (did you know people can be passionate about that?)  Well, I am!

Another activity my children and I love to do together is make play-doh sculptures.  I have even been known to hide some of my favorite sculptures to keep them from being squished by the kids.  Anyone know how to preserve a harden play-doh sculpture?  If only they were permanent!

Lately, with Fall here and my huge, HUGE love of pumpkins, I have been working on play-doh pumpkins.  We have such a good time together!

You may not be into coloring, or have a love for playing with play-doh, but if you can find activities that both you and your children enjoy doing together it can make for some wonderful quality time.  Sharing your passions with your children gives them a whole new meaning and excitement.  Whether it is your love for sports, crafts, or baking (what kids doesn’t like cookies!) I encourage you to spend time doing that which you love with your kids.  When you are both excited and happy to be doing it you can really connect on deep level with your child, and that gives you a wonderful warm fuzzy feeling.

Isn’t that what life is all about, connecting with those we love?  Sharing your passions with others is very rewarding whether it be your friends, family, or a new person in your life.  Thank you for sharing mine with me here!

Have a wonderful day!

Wendy Irene

What is it that you love to do?  What brings out the inner kid in you?  Please tell me, I’d love to know!

Now that my daughter is older, there are a variety of crafts that we do together. We've needle felted together, and embroidered. And we bake together, too. It's fun to expand your horizons with your kids' expanding abilities.

Jack and Isla love to do homework! For Isla that is drawing or painting and for Jack it is completing books upon books of mazes!

Yes, these activities do last longer when I sit down with them, but sometimes they are also a great way to enable me to get dinner made or articles written!

Hope your (Canadian) Thanksgiving was super spectacular!

Having fun and being creative with kids is wonderful. I would recommend varnishing your play-doh artwork once it is dry to preserve it.
