Giving more is something I am working towards making a more regular part of my life.  Too often we get caught up in our own lives, and forget the power we have within us to make a difference in the life of another.  If we each take it one small step at a time, we CAN make this world a better place.  There are so many beautiful, giving hearts in the world and sometimes all we need is a small reminder to check in and ask ourselves what can we do today to make a difference?

This week my goal is to make a difference in the life of a senior.  Sadly, as a society we often forget about our seniors, the ones who paved the way for us and have contributed to the greater wisdom available today.  In order to make a difference in the life of a senior I have decided to make a donation and spread the word about an organization called Meals on Wheels.

The mission of Meals on Wheels is to end senior hunger by 2020.  No one should go hungry in a world abundant with food.  Meals on Wheels is a great opportunity to help support seniors who are hungry in America.  $35 dollars can help provide meals for 5 seniors.

There are also many ways to help support Meals on Wheels besides making a monetary donation.

Here are a few options:

Volunteer/Deliver a Meal

Donate a Vehicle

Raise Awareness

• Take the Pledge – MOWAA is hoping for 6 million on their list.  “The same number of seniors at risk of hunger in America.”

• Follow MOWAA on Twitter

• Follow MOWAA on Facebook

• Share the Table with Barilla – this one is really easy.  One click and “For each person who promises to "Share the Table," Barilla will donate $1 to MOWAA. You'll be making a promise to improve the time you spend with your family around the table and joining the Share the Table community. For a limited time, you'll also be able to download a celebrity cookbook when you support.”

What do you say; will you help me spread the word about MOWAA?

Thanks for being here today! ♥ :)

Sadly, I think senior hunger often gets lost in the shuffle with all of the hunger-awareness campaigns. And yet, also sadly, it seems increasingly a problem. I support a similar organization locally, and it really helps it sink it that there are real people with this. They aren't food insecure due to some unexpected turn of events or hardship - it is instead because of how our society manages and integrates those who are simply aging. Something we all will do eventually, right? That makes senior food insecurity so maddening. Thank you for publicizing this.

I will make a donation today. Thanks for reminding us about it. Senors seem to be one of the last to be thought of. P

Sadly hunger is not just between elderly. During my college years I volunteered for a non-profit organization trying to provide warm meals and clothes for homeless children.

Just made a donation, thanks for reminding me.
