Motivating yourself to exercise can be so darn hard sometimes! There are a
million things you want to have on your priority list, and you can’t find time
to fit them all in. Why make exercise a priority when you would rather spend
your time doing something else?

In my own life, exercise balances me out physically, emotionally, and spiritually. When I make time for exercise I feel at a powerful equilibrium. Exercise makes me feel as though I can more easily operate optimally in all areas of my life. Ironically it takes a devotion to exercise in order to fully achieve all that you are capable of being.

There are lots of times I don’t feel like exercising! I could list 1000 other things I’d rather be getting done, but in my heart I know and feel the importance of exercise not only to my physical well-being, but to my overall well-being. The important things in life are worth fighting for, and sometimes you have to fight with all your might to keep excuses and reasons not to exercise from taking over.

It is fortunate that my husband and I work out together. There are days
when it feels as though the only reason I’m making myself exercise is because he is doing it too. Asking a spouse, partner, or family member to exercise with you can provide the essential support and motivation you need to keep going.

We all need someone in our corner sometimes, especially when it comes to things we find challenging in our lives. Your support doesn’t have to be under the same roof. Have you ever tried working out and skyping with a long-distance friend?

Let’s live a healthy life together and keep each other going!

To being all you can be physically, emotionally, and spiritually!

Some days, the only motivation I have to get on my treadmill is knowing I can catch up on an old show that DH isn't interested in sitting down & watching. I wouldn't otherwise want to "waste my time" watching it, but on the treadmill watching it, I'm multitasking! ;)

I just signed up for a 10 mile event in May... that will be my longest distance yet, so that's been motivating me recently. Heretofore my longest distance event was a 10k. I have time to ramp up to that distance, but knowing that I want to run 10 miles COMFORTABLY in 2.5 months keeps me getting on the treadmill regularly!

I really agree with you, exercise keeps me balanced. Even when I don't WANT to, after I'm finished exercising, I'm never regretful that I have!

ps: cute photo of the two of you! <3

Kelly,

That is awesome you signed up to run 10 miles in May! Let me know how it goes. I think working towards something special like an event would help keep me motivated too.
I love that you catch up on favorite shows while you workout. That sounds like fun!
Thanks so much about the picture! :) It was actually an accidentally picture. The 2 of us were working on figuring out the camera timer without looking at the instructions of course ;-) Have a wonderful day!

With a 3 month old it is sooooooo hard to workout!! During the week i just want to get home to her and i feel guilty if i go to the gym! I am trying to set a goal of going one day during the week and one weekend day. We try to fit in family walks when we can too. :-) I guess since i am not working out as much, I need to eat healhier to make up for it!

I completely understand that challange! When my son was born we were all about the family walks. Now that the kids are 6 and 3 it is getting easier to be able to fit it in because they can play by themselves for a little while. You'll get there! xoxo

I feel the same way Wendy. I hurt my back back in November and since then been too scared or nervous that I would hurt it again. I NEED to exercise for my overall well being. I love the way I feel afterwards. So I started back doing the Couch to 5k for the 100th time and of course I love my weight lifting and yoga!! Thanks for your inspiration! Have a beautiful day.

some days I trick myself into doing other house chores just so I don't have time to workout.

Gorgeous photo of you, Wendy!

Back when I had all of the time (and sleep, ha) in the world to devote to exercise, it wasn't really hard to motivate myself to do so. Being a mom really changes things! However, like you said, I need to exercise in order to function at my best- so I try to find motivation in that! Great post :)

Katie,
Thank you! :) I know just what you mean. Finding time to fit in exercise I believe helps me to be more patient and giving with my kids.
