Are there times when you over-analyze conversations or experiences that are best let go? Do you overbook yourself? Do you put too much pressure on yourself to be everything to everyone?
Maybe we are looking at things backwards. Maybe instead of putting a huge amount of effort into doing everything, having everything, accomplishing everything, we can lose 2/3 and focus more simply on what we value most. Would that lead to a more fulfilling life?
Do you think your happiness is conditional on too many factors? Could that hinder how you view your experiences? There is going through tough times, such as losing or being separated from those we love, or unexpected disappointments that happen to all of us. There is nothing wrong with having times of sadness, but do you find yourself struggling with happiness in moments where you have a lot going for you?
Could it be that your happiness is overcomplicated? Are you letting things that could bring you joy pass you by?
Let’s face it, life isn’t always simple but does it have to be as complicated as we make it out to be? Many of us are on a constant quest for answers: What is the perfect diet? What is my perfect weight? What is the best beauty routine? What would make me the best parent? How many things should I help my child excel at? What is the salary I would be happy with? What is the perfect amount of hours to work each week? The list goes on and on, and I wonder are we listening to our inner voice? The voice that doesn’t answer to anyone else’s expectations.
Both choosing and putting effort into letting go of the many things you are conditioned to measure happiness in could actually make you happier in the long run. Instead, think outside the box, go against the grain, and make your own measurements for happiness. These measurements don’t have to make sense to anyone but you.
Could it be you are most beautiful when you are doing the things you love?
In life I am constantly inspired by others, many times different thoughts whirlwind into a combination I never would have expected. For example I believe in part my writing today came from reading a newsletter on GOOP – Vitamin D, which made me wonder in everything we over complicate do we over complicate sunscreen use? Should our goal simply be to take precautions to prevent burning? I have no medical training but want to live a healthy AND balanced life so I’m often left wondering how complicated things actually need to be.
This article I believe mixed with another article I read 2 weeks ago about Tiernan from Just Write on The Make Shift Revolution, and in her words she is inspired by “...anyone who trail-blazes in any forum. If you do something unexpected or against the grain and just keep moving forward in the face of adversity, I am inspired by you.” Those words really stuck out to me because I thought they were great! I believe much of the time people are facing adversity when they are trying to do what is right, or when they follow their heart in a way that makes most sense for them, something that is not always understood when we judge one another. Often they deserve a lot more love and support than they get.
All that together with an outpouring from my heart and the way I view of the world and it became a new post. Put simply in an effort to not over complicate things J, I’m living in a world of inspiring people!
What is it that makes you beautiful? Please share in the comments.
