I think coming up with a list of my own is a great idea and something I want to work on, and I highly encourage you to do it too! Writing things down gives you clarity and helps you to evaluate what you really want in life. After all it is your life and I truly believe no one is stopping you, except sometimes you. Believing is half the battle, and then there is taking the steps to make your dreams a reality. There are a lot of places you can get stuck, but that doesn’t make it impossible.
Sometimes things you thought you wanted, because it sounded great or exciting at the time are not necessarily how you truly want to spend your time. For example that fantastic job that takes you all over the world, but you are constantly away from your loved ones and feel like you are missing out. Life is about finding a balance that works for you, one that you are happy with, not necessarily what is expected of you.
My ultimate dream at this point in my life, and I say that because I consider myself to be someone who is I hope constantly growing and sometimes changing, is to have or create a job that I am passionate about, that I can take with me anywhere in the world, that allows me creative freedom, and enables me to continue spending lots of time with my family. Sounds great right?! ;-)
Living and writing abroad for a year, or taking summers to travel with my family, while still being able to provide for them is very appealing to me. My husband and I are originally from different coasts and even different countries, so we both desire the freedom to be able to move and live in different areas. Not that either one of us wants to be moving all the time or anything, just the freedom to be able to do it without having to start all over again in terms of providing for our family each time.
Often we talk about the hopes of being able to job share in a way that we can both have lots of time taking care of our children, as well as living out passions that enable us to support our family. Being able to switch back and forth between each other as our hearts desire, or when it beneficial to one of our strengths would be a major plus too!
There is a lot to think about, and the best part is... it is a lot of fun! Now to turn dreaming into doing...
As Brooke Burke wrote in one of my all time favorites of her posts “A closed mouth never gets fed.”
Thank you so much for listening to my dreams!
If you are up for it I would love to hear what you hope, wish, dream for? Put it out there! Any bucket list items you would like to share?
