Welcome! We had our first really windy, fall-feeling day this week with cooler temperatures. I lit a candle and curled up in my plaid blanket, and smiled at the sight of crunchy fall leaves whirling around in the driveway. The thought of filling my home with super soft pillows, blankets, and sweaters lights me up. Oh yeah, and boots! I love wearing low-ankle boots. Do you have any boots you love? It's a really hot ghost pepper from the garden. In fact, I cut it into small pieces yesterday without gloves, and I still feel the hot tingle on my left thumb today. Do you know why they call them ghost peppers? I heard it's because the peppers resemble the leaves quite a bit when they're green and sometimes you'll think you just have a pepper or two, but others will appear all of a sudden that you didn't see. Perhaps there are other reasons as well but I think that explanation makes a lot of sense because this pepper appeared to me only late in the season when it started to change color. My son thinks they're called ghost peppers because they'll kill you if you eat them, but the grown-ups here have developed some tolerance to spice over the last few weeks with progressively hotter batches of homemade salsa so I think we'll be OK.
