I hope you had a fun Halloween :) It is wonderful to be back! We are just settling into our new home in Idaho. Things have happened so quickly that we are struggling to keep up, but it is an amazing new adventure and we love it all the same. I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
It has been A LOT of late nights packing in just a few days, and now unpacking. Thank goodness for our good friend Michael who graciously came over after a full day of work to help pack our garage and main floor for several hours. Honestly, if it wasn’t for him I don’t think we would have made our deadline when the moving company arrived.
It was a long drive with the kids from Vancouver, about 8.5 hours, and we needed to pick up our keys by 2pm. After a full day of loading our possessions on the truck we had to wake up at 3:15am to start our drive. Our kids have watched waaaaaay too many DVDs after the 3 trips we made to Idaho in the past couple of weeks.
I am starting to fully understand why as a kid when we did long drives we drove through the night. I can’t begin to tell you the number of times we heard “Are we there yet?” in the past 3 weeks. Yikes! I wish my husband and I were better at staying awake at night because the kids sleeping through more of the drive sounds like a great thing!
We have more space in our new home which is really nice. Oddly enough, it is completely full from the stuff that we brought with us. Funny how that happens. More things came with us than should have but with the very short time to pack it was more of a throw it in the box, think about it later situation.
It is colder here in Idaho than we are used to on the coast. All reports we have heard so far call for a lot of snow this year. In fact, looking out the window I can already see snow on the beautiful mountains in the distance.
We are not prepared yet. Some snow gear, maybe a second shovel, and two little kiddie ones, and probably snow tires our in our near future. I’m a little scared of adjusting to driving in the snow again. However, I LOVE snow!! I find it so magical. I’m pumped to watch it fall outside the window while I most likely stand about 1 inch from the fire place.
Thank you very much for all your lovely comments and emails. They mean so much to me! Have a beautiful 1st day of November!
