Throughout the day thoughts pass through our head. Some of these thoughts are not productive, or uninspired. These are the thoughts of worry or anxiety. As people we are powerful beings of love. For that reason, we are given the choice to let go of the thoughts that do not serve us. We have the ability to hear the thought, feel its ramification in our body, and allow it to roll on through. Our greatest gift is that we are not our thoughts, we are so much more.
"I am not what I think. I am thinking what I think." ~ Eric Butterworth
This week my family is moving. We bought a house and are super excited about it. The couple of weeks before the move many, many thoughts of anxiety about everything I needed to pack, and everything that needed to get done ran through my head. Although I was not able to alleviate all the stress I felt from moving, I practiced allowing the worrisome thoughts to roll on through the best that I knew how. It has made a big difference in how I’ve experienced the moving process so far.
so much, it’s just the way things worked out. I’ve done the packing up the house thing many times before, and each time as our family grows so does the packing job.
I remember vividly the last time we moved when we were going from Canada to the US, and the immense stress I felt. Everything had to be packed to be in a truck for days and go across the border. My kids were 2 years younger which made things harder, but the biggest difference was at the time I was unaware of how much control I actually had over my state of well-being. The ability to be in charge of how we allow things affect us is a true gift from the universe.
When feeling stressed this time around I now know to stop and breathe. I know that I can either let the thought of anxiety pause in my mind, allowing myself to get tangled up in it for any length of time, or I can recognize it as crazy, not act on it and let it pass right on through. At the end of the day I know we are so blessed to be alive, to be here together, and the more I focus on that, the more I understand in my heart that most things really don’t matter, and they aren’t worth the time and energy worrying about them. Doing that only harms our body, and makes time pass by faster. Time slows down when we experience joy.
“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.” ~ Buddha
You are a being of peace and love, and I wish you a joy filled day.
