Needless to say, this week I am going to be spending a lot of time enjoying the company of my family, and showing them around the beautiful new place we call home, Idaho! Therefore my goal for this week with making a difference is simple, easy to do, and extremely important. This week I plan to make a difference by donating food.
Food is a basic necessity, and I certainly take for granted the fact that we never go hungry and that I don’t have to worry about whether my kids will have enough to eat. Actually, it is quite the opposite. I spend time worrying about if my kids will eat enough of their food, like their veggies!! What a blessing that is.
Donating food is an easy thing to do, especially during a busy week. Many grocery stores collect food donations. It is as simple as throwing some extra items in your cart and putting them in the bin. No matter what, we have to go food shopping for our family this week so there is no reason we shouldn’t be able to get this goal accomplished.
Our local Curves also collects food donations, giving us another option. Also, we could always drop food off directly at a local food bank.
Sadly, it feels like it has been way too long since the last time we donated food. I have a very fond memory of it that I treasure. We took our kids and had them help carry the food into the Food Bank. It felt incredible giving, and it was a double whammy seeing the look on my son’s face, how happy and helpful he felt, and knowing that we were instilling such an important lesson in him.
Part of living with intention for me means working towards making a difference being a regular part of our families life, not just a once and a while type of thing. It would be such an honor if any of you, my friends, would like to join us this week in making it a goal to donate food in your area of the world. We can make an even BIGGER difference in numbers. Let’s join together and watch love, support and happiness grow!
