Today my husband and I watched My Sister’s Keeper. In my opinion it was a great movie, very emotional, very sad. There is wisdom in the movie to appreciate.
Be prepared for tears if you choose to watch it. For me picking out a movie is very dependent on my mood. Sometimes I want to watch something light and funny, and other times I am up for something more serious. I find it best to always pay attention to my mood when picking out a movie. Doing that allows you to get the most out of it. That being said it can be difficult when the decision involves 2 people. In that case you may just have to switch back and forth.
Date nights for my husband and I involve renting movies, and usually a drink or a glass of wine. For us watching a movie at home is the best choice. It can be hard and/or expensive to find a babysitter, and although we would love it, it is not something we can do on a weekly basis. Having a movie night makes the best of our situation.
Immediately after the kids go to bed we start the movie. This is mainly because it is hard for us to stay up late. Although staying up past our bedtime happens more often than we would like, we try to fit in as much sleep as possible. We love our sleep!
The movie again reminded me about how important each moment is. How time really isn’t something to focus on. Even though it is something I know and tell myself often, it is very important for me to be constantly reminded of it.
It is interesting how that is necessary for me, and I believe so many others. Perhaps it is because we are so conditioned to worry about time that we forget its actual relevance. Will there be a day when it is so much a part of my core I don’t need to be reminded? I’m not sure, but either way the reminders are a nice thing.
Wishing you a wonderful Saturday evening and a moment to reflect on the wonder of the season!
