Every now and then, and maybe a lot more now than then, with the days of life gliding by, disconnecting from it all and surrounding yourself with nature revitalizes your soul. Evaluating your life, keeping perspective, recharging patience is all much easier for me to do amongst the tall evergreens, the mountains passing through the clouds, while the sounds of streams wash through.
Being in nature reminds you of how small you are in the universe, but at the same time how important you are in the inner connections of it all. Nature shows you how much there is to life besides work, chores and calendar days. True beauty lies in simplicity.
Getting out of the house where you are forced to disconnect, forced to leave the to-dos behind and revel in nature’s beautiful surroundings is one of the most incredible ways to love life.
One of the blessings in our life are marvellous friends who worked hard, saved hard, and made a dream into a reality many years ago creating a city escape in the beautiful mountains and lakes that surround Whistler. Even in the rain where droplets fall to dance on the roof and windows, we cuddle by a fire, close together; our family’s hearts connect, strengthening our bond.
We did flee when clouds would part and wondered through the adorable village of Whistler, home to a unique and vibrant community of nature enthusiasts. Where lakes, streams, boutique shops and big names alike join together in a little get away where fine dining enthusiasts can also let their taste buds take flight.
