Tonight I am treating myself to a pomegranate martini! It has been a long time since I had a martini and I must say I am really enjoying it! Especially because it was made for me with love from my hubby. After last minute cuddles with the kids before bed it was waiting for me downstairs.
Tonight I am treating myself to a pomegranate martini! It has been a long time since I had a martini and I must say I am really enjoying it! Especially because it was made for me with love from my hubby. After last minute cuddles with the kids before bed it was waiting for me downstairs.
The martini is made with vodka, triple sec, and Pom Wonderful pomegranate juice. The first time I bought this juice was after I saw my friend Tina’s trip to the orchard on Carrots-n-Cake. I thought it tasted great and my son liked it too. I served him a mixture of half juice, and half water. To be honest we are not big juice drinkers in our house, but it sure tastes good in a cocktail.
In addition to making me the delicious martini, he also snapped some great blog photos for me because he is just that good!
I added 2 snowmen ice cubes to my drink, and the ice cubes along with the beautiful deep red color made the drink look very festive. The ice cubes melted too quickly to snap a picture.
This morning I organized all my Christmas receipts. It is amazing how fast they add up. Also I did some food shopping for Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day dinners, so that tomorrow I will hopefully have more down time. My food shopping included a seafood store, Save-On Foods, and Costco.
Tomorrow for Christmas Eve we are making a scaled back Cioppino, mainly just less seafood to keep the cost down. There were lots of people out tonight.
Earlier we created a cute handmade ornament. The kit was given to us last year by great friends for the birth of our daughter. Thank you so much! Before we knew it 2 months had gone by and we still had not made it. It was then we decided to save it to make a handprint ornament for our daughter’s first Christmas this year.

She wiggled a little bit so it isn’t a 100% clear print but that just makes it all the more special. I know it is going to be one of those ornaments hanging on our tree every year that we completely adore. Right now it is drying.
The ornament was super simple to make. Just need the material, roll it out, press their hand on it, trim the edges off and let it dry. I poked 2 holes in the ornament so I can attach the ribbon when it is completely dry. We are so excited to hang it on the tree. I highly recommend making one of these or giving it as a baby gift if you are searching for one. It is such a meaningful gift.
After making this one, I do think it would be great to do the handprint on a newborn especially when they fall into their deep sleep. It would be perfect to prevent the wiggling.
Just 2 short hours until Christmas Eve. For me it is probably my favorite night of the year with all the magic in the air.
