With American Thanksgiving in only a week and 3 days, I am starting to think about what I should make. We celebrate both Canadian and American Thanksgiving in our house. Twice the holidays, twice the fun!
Because we celebrate both holidays, and there aren’t many of us I usually try to keep things on the simple side. On Good Morning America there was a recipe featured that looked interesting to me called Sandra Lee’s Sweet Potato Turkey Bowl. I am not sure if this is the right recipe for me, but I thought I would share. It might make a great dish for leftovers if you have family staying with you over the holidays. I do like the idea of a slow cooker recipe.
For dessert we have left over frozen caramel apple pie from Canadian Thanksgiving. We are most likely going to have that, with ice cream of course. Even though I love baking, the caramel apple pie was not one I baked myself. It is hard to fit everything I want to do in with the little ones. Sometimes it isn’t worth it to me if we are busy, and fitting it in is going to add stress to my day. I figure enjoy my time with the kiddos now, and bake when it is a good time for me.
We purchased the pie from Costco. It was a giant pie, but the price was good for the size. We liked it and are looking forward to eating it again. It was a tad on the sweet side for me with the caramel sauce, but definitely yummy!

I would like to bake something for American Thanksgiving, at the same time I want to use the leftovers. The next week I am attending a cookie exchange party anyway, so I am sure I will get my fill of baking then. I will be sure to let you guys know what I walk away with from that.

Note: I did not have any pictures of turkey to share, so for visual effect the picture is of a chicken, ha! J
